ABOUT PAULA

 

 

Paula was appointed Head of Voice at the Royal Shakespeare Company in May 2026.

Paula works across theatre, actor training and professional communication, helping performers and speakers develop voice, presence and a deep connection to text and language. Her practice brings together vocal technique, clarity, stamina and ease, supporting people to speak with connection, freedom and impact.

At the RSC, Paula’s work is rooted in the company’s commitment to artistic excellence: supporting actors to speak with connection and clarity.

Her recent Royal Shakespeare Company work includes The Constant Wife, The Winter’s Tale, The Forsyte Saga, Henry V, Hamlet, The Tempest – First Encounters and Love’s Labour’s Lost with RSC Next Generation. She has also provided post-press voice, text and actor support for RSC productions including Game of Thrones, The Tempest, The Cherry Orchard, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Titus Andronicus, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The School for Scandal, As You Like It, Pericles, New Real, Othello, The Red Shoes, Twelfth Night and Edward II.

She has taught actors in training at leading drama schools and institutions in the UK and US, including RADA, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, LAMDA, Florida State University, Penn State University, Muhlenberg College, University of Connecticut, Asolo Repertory Theatre, Theatre Academy London, Pegasus Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe Education.

Alongside her theatre and conservatoire work, Paula works with private clients, teachers, corporations and women in business, supporting authentic voice, presence, confidence and the right to be heard. Her work is rooted in the belief that voice is not simply technical, but personal, powerful and connected to identity, language and presence.

Originally trained as an actor at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Paula went on to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and across theatre, television and radio. Her voice and text practice has been shaped by study with Patsy Rodenburg, Cicely Berry, Lyn Darnley, Charmian Hoare and classical singing teacher Margaret Bennett.
